You can now accurately and confidently measure your patient’s skin
tone when performing various laser and cosmetic treatments. Developed by Dr.Youabian
at the Cosmetic Laser Center of Los Angeles, the Dermatone Skin Analyzer™ is a
patented technology which gives accurate analysis of skin tones based on the skin’s
concentrations of melanin, hemoglobin, and skin reflection properties.
Using the measurements from this
device, doctors and laser technicians can safely and confidently set the laser parameters
for their patients. This precise measurement of skin tone leads to less guessing of
laser parameters, and ultimately to less unwanted side effects and less lawsuits.
The Dermatone Skin Analyzer™ is quite simple to use. It utilizes several
safety and calibration features to ensure accurate skin tone readings. The device is
designed to comfortably fit in the hand.
To measure the skin tone, the tip of the device is gently placed over the skin and a
button is pressed. The skin tone results will then be displayed on the device’s LCD
screen. The device is made of the highest quality of electronics and workmanship,
and we fully warranty the device for 90 days.

Please note that the Fitzpatrick skin types are very subjective and an inaccurate way of classifying skin tones. One person may label a patient with a different Fitzpatrick skin stype as compared to another person. The Dermatone Skin Analyzer will give you a much more accurate reading of your patient's skin tone. Because of the subjective value of Fitzpatrick skin types, you will find that there is a considerable overlap with the above table's comparison of the Dermatone skin tone readings and perceived Fitzpatrick skin type.
The Dermatone Skin Analyzer is best used to compare your patient's skin tone from one treatment to the next, in order to be able to tell if the patient's skin is lighter or darker than before. |
